We're so excited about our 2016 workshop lineup and think you will be too! Your perennial favorites are back, such as Bent Willow Chair, Intro to Welding, Rings in a Day, and many, many more. But there are lots of new workshops and instructors, and even a brand new event!

Here's a rundown on just some of what's new:

We're very excited to bring you two nationally recognized jewelry instructors in 2016.

Richard Salley will be here for three days in late July teaching his 3 Ring Circus class.

In September, Eva Sherman will teach two classes - a weekend ring class and an in-depth five day Cuff Making class covering a wide range of metal techniques.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to learn from these two exceptionally talented instructors!

Cold Wax and Encaustic

Lisa Pressman in her studio
If wax is your thing (hot or cold), you'll love our 2016 lineup - three cold wax classes and one encaustic class.

New instructor Pam Caughey comes to us from Montana to teach Color and Design in Cold Wax.

In the fall Lisa Pressman returns to Shake Rag (see Instructor Spotlight post), an opportunity for intermediate & advanced cold wax/encaustic enthusiasts to expand their horizons.  (See this interview with Lisa in the Huffington Post).

Mixed Media
Mixed Media Art Journal with Mary Beth Shaw

If you are a Mixed Media enthusiast we're sure you will want to check out the workshops with our 2016 visiting instructors.

Crystal Neubauer will be offering a very intriguing weekend Collage workshop in early April - be sure to register early for this one!
Mary Beth Shaw will join us in the fall to share her wonderful blend of mixed media techniques in an Art Journaling workshop.

Also in the fall, we are delighted to welcome Andrea Matus deMeng to teach a three day workshop creating a Mixed Media "Codex". We can't wait!

Plein Aire Watercolor Sketch by Trish McKinney

Trish McKinney comes to us from Ohio to teach a very interesting workshop - a day sketching Plein Air followed by a day in the studio turning that into a completed painting.

Golden Working Artist Bonnie Cutts returns to Shake Rag bringing her considerable knowledge and teaching skills to a three day Acrylic class in June. (see Instructor Spotlight post)

And Jacqueline Sullivan returns for the third year with a new Experimental Watermedia Collage class. Sounds very intriguing.

Blacksmithing and Welding

We add two new talented instructors to our blacksmithing/welding roster in 2016.

Mitch Quade, from Mt Horeb, will bring expertise in both blacksmithing and welding to four classes in 2016.

Robert Schulz has teaching experience at a number of well-known venues so we feel fortunate to offer his in-depth three-day Knife Making Workshop in October.

Art Adventure
A New Workshop Event!

In 2016 we launch Art Adventure, the newest addition to our lineup of annual workshop events (Garden Getaway, Beads and Bangles, and Woodlanders).

Scheduled at the end of August, Art Adventure is a four day "Mixed Media" retreat, meaning that you can immerse yourself in a potpourri of art and craft disciplines (collage, assemblage, jewelry, altered art, journaling, creative writing, fiber arts and cement/mosaic)...all in the space of just four days! Plus lots of opportunity to connect with other like-minded "art adventurers" and explore wonderful Mineral Point and Shake Rag Alley.

Here's the full line-up of 2016 Events at Shake Rag Alley:

March 19–20: Garden Getaway

 May 21–22: Beads & Bangles

May 28–29: Tour of Fairy Homes

June 18: Garden Tour & Garden Art/Plant Sale
