Alley Stage Summer Season Opener...PLUS New Seating!

We're so excited!

Our new Alley Stage seating has arrived...and just in time for the opening of the 2012 Alley Stage Summer Season! They are SOOOO COMFORTABLE - individual seats complete with armrests. And pretty darn handsome right in with the rustic character of our cozy little outdoor theater.

With fun, new theatrical and musical performances, this summer at Alley Stage promises something for everyone - two first class comedies, a musical production with the Mineral Point High School, a Family Festival, and musical performances by three popular regional groups:

Here's the full show schedule through the summer:

  • June 7-9 & 14-16: Art, Tony award winning comedy by Yasmina Reza
  • July 14: Point Five, Mineral Point's rockin' acoustic band
  • July 19-21: Into the Woods, Alley Stage partners with the Mineral Point High School to present Stephen Sondheim's Tony award winning musical
  • July 28: Family Festival, a day of fun for the whole family on the Shake Rag grounds
  • August 3: Cupola,  genre-jumping country-swing, jazz, pop, rock and gospel music
  • August 9-11 & 16-18, Picasso at the Lapin Agile, twentysomethings Einstein and Picasso discuss art, physics, and women in this farce by Steve Martin.
  • August 25: Harmonious Wail, Gypsy Swing musical group from Madison

The Alley Stage summer season opener, Art, is directed by Betty Diamond, of Madison, professor emeritus from UW Whitewater and member of the Madison Theater Guild Board, with actors Caleb Stone, Sam Murn, and Tyler Schott.

A hilarious and insightful comedy about the way men think and relate to each other, the play raises questions about art and friendship among three long-time friends, Serge, Marc, and Yvan. Serge, indulging his penchant for modern art, buys a large, expensive, completely white painting. Marc is horrified, and their relationship suffers considerable strain as a result of their differing opinions about what constitutes “art”. Yvan, caught in the middle of the conflict, tries to please and mollify both of them

Written by French playwright, Rasmina Reza, ART received the 1998 Lawrence Olivier Award for best comedy and the 1998 Tony Award for best play, as well as Molière awards for best author and best play.

New seats, a freshly painted stage, restained tech booth, newly mulched landscaping, great productions...we're rarin' to go!

So come on out and enjoy theater and music under the stars!
