Shake Rag Alley 2012 Spring Workshops: Registration Open!

The Spring class season (through June) is up on the Shake Rag Alley website and registrations are open now!

We're really excited about the lineup of classes and we think you will be too.

Three themed workshop weekend events:

Garden Getaway, March 31-April 1: Eighteen fun, quick workshops making garden art and learning new gardening skills.

Beads and Bangles, May 18-20: Nine introductory workshops in jewelry making.

Mosaic Madness, June 22-24: Three days exploring the versatile medium of mosaic with many projects.

The schedule includes many perennial favorites from Making a Bent Willow Chair to Wine Tumblers to Art Scarves (Felting With Wool and Silk), but there are plenty of new classes too. Just to name a few:

  • A really exciting take on working with Oil Pastels with Jeb Prazak.
  • Judy Coates-Perez will join us from Chicago for two great new classes. For fabric surface design folks there's 10 Textile Techniques with Acrylic Inks, and for mixed media fans, Heavy Metal Play Day working with craft metal to add flash to your projects.
  • Veteran Bead and Button Show instructor, Frank Scott, will bring his lampworking skills to teach Glass Beadmaking. You can sign up for a two day session or go for broke by adding a third day.
  • Rug Hookers can learn how to add a braided border to their rugs with Joyce Krueger.
  • Golden Acrylics Working Artist, Bonnie Cutts, is returning for her third year at Shake Rag with two new back-to-back classes - a two day Tackle Tactile Surfaces class exploring various substrates followed by a three-day workshop, Amazing Inkjet Options in Art, all about Digital Grounds and printing your images on various surfaces.
  • And we have two nationally known polymer clay artists on the schedule. Barbara McGuire will teach a three day class in making face canes, the technique for which she is so well known; and Carol Simmons will teach her own variation of the "Skinner Blend", a great opportunity to learn from Carol in a one-day Polymer Clay Blending class.

Plus lots more - PMC classes with Sherry Viktora, Encaustic with Jeff Hirst, Chinese Brush Painting with Stella Dobbins, Photoshop Elements, BlacksmithingBatik Painting, Garden Silk Scarves with Shelley Ryan, Writing classes, Retreats...and so much more.

In fact, way too many classes to list. Check it out for yourself. You can search by date or search by subject.

Hope to see you in class!
