Instructor Spotlight - Larry Zgoda, Stained Glass Artist

Thanks to a generous donation of stained glass tools and supplies, Shake Rag is now offering classes in stained glass!

And, we are very fortunate to have stained glass pro Larry Zgoda as one of our instructors.

In an article about Larry Zgoda, Demo, the online magazine of Larry's alma mater, Columbia College in Chicago, said  "Zgoda has become known as a groundbreaker in his field. His work incorporates traditional materials and techniques, yet he executes and applies them in fresh new ways."

The article praises Larry's use of highly refractive crown glass or glass "jewels", and the way he incorporates rescued flawed or experimental glass which he cuts and refires. Read the entire article here.

Larry comes to us from Chicago where he creates stained glass pieces for a loyal following of architects, developers, and designers. You can see samples of his work at Larry Zgoda Studio.  He has taught at the Hyde Park Art Center on Chicago's south side, where he led popular multi-week classes. For Shake Rag, Larry has condensed his course providing a unique opportunity to acquire a solid foundation in stained glass craft in a short time frame.

Beginning Stained Glass will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2012 from 9am-4:3-pm at Shake Rag Alley. Larry will work with students to create a beautiful, yet simple design incorporating six or more pieces of glass....

A great opportunity to learn the craft of stained glass from a true master... and without a major investment in tools and/or supplies!
